Expedition Discovery Kei

When we observe our own lives and those of others, nobody is immune to life’s stressors. During such times, it is not uncommon for individuals or families to find a way to reduce their anxieties. My work as a counselor is to provide clients, both in group and individual settings, with tools that will enable them to develop healthy perceptions about themselves and life, while developing and maintaining healthy interpersonal relationships. I customize and combine traditional talk therapy with physical exercise so that the clients can get to know themselves as peaceful and complete.

My approach includes using mindfulness techniques, development of emotion regulation strategies and increasing distress tolerance skills.

My experience includes working with both adolescents and adults in a hospital setting, a drug and alcohol rehabilitation facility, a volunteer experience in a Kenyan prison as well as counseling services for urban refugees.

My educational background includes a degree in counselling psychology from the University of Nairobi, a certificate on eye movement desensitisation and reprocessing (EMDR) Level 1 from EMDR Kenya Trust, a certificate in professional mediation (MTI), and certificates in various fitness training disciplines.

As part of the Expedition Discovery team, I welcome you to experience Africa and all that it offers to your journey of recovery.

My favorite African proverb:
“Do not look where you fell, but where you slipped.”
